Do I like freelancing? Yes, I do.
But I always dream of having an offline business aside from a successful venture online. However, because of financial constraint, I need to earn money and that means I need to have a job.
Good thing though, with the opportunity provided by the Internet and the digital gadgets, it is now easy for me to work in my own home and sometimes at my own time. There is still the pressure and this is the thing that you constantly encounter in every job in different ranges… I think.
However, in freelancing you act as a service provider. You can be an employee and employer at the same time.Unbeknownst to many, perhaps, freelancing is a business. It is synonymous to contracting and freelancers are oftentimes referred to as contractors. In the online world, many recognize freelancing jobs as employment jobs. The notion may be true; however, the case is that freelancers can take many jobs from different job providers. The perspective of freelancing is broad that it is oftentimes regarded as a job career as well as a business opportunity career. But I prefer the latter for I want a freelancer to be recognized as a businessman or (businesswoman) and not just a mere employee doing telecommuting.
Being a freelancer, I have been presented with different opportunities, such as:
- having different clients
- doing my work at my own time. But if it is a per-hour basis, I have to log-in to Skype or other media forms to connect with clients;
- working almost everywhere as long there is Internet connection and laptop ( and that the environment is conducive enough for working)
- picking jobs to do
- asking a demand rate
- joining enhancement training online with or without taking out money
- endless offers in the classified lists in various sites. What I have to do is improve my skills and attitude towards work, pressure and stresses.
Freelancing has boundless opportunities. What a freelancer should do though is to align his skills with certain jobs, blending with the right personality and attitude towards jobs, clients and other media to be encountered and used.
And yes, there are many opportunities for Cebuanos who want to venture into freelancing opting for telecommuting jobs or for contractual bases. Searching for the right keywords such as writing jobs online, freelancing jobs and jobs for writers and bloggers can be the first step.
I can’t really say that freelancing can make one rich; but given, the right talents and skills, attitude and determination, it is possible to become a big-time money-maker doing freelancing jobs online.

I agree that “Freelancing has boundless opportunities”. There is no limit and there is a lot space for the word “freedom”. Actually, for me, freelancing is an acid test of one’s perseverance, diligence, work ethics, self discipline.
I love freelancing. With easy access to computer and internet, the web has become a big gold mine for everyone but only few including the dedicated freelancers actually pick up the gold.
