The Day Bjorn Cebuano Becomes a Member of Cebu Bloggers Society

July 18, 2010 marks the day of a new blogging journey. Recently admitted to a throng of online Filipino Media bloggers, I am more than grateful for eventually becoming a member of a society that shares a common goal– to promote Cebu. Thankfully, the new members’ briefing was done with ease despite the practice of Filipino time which might have given some people a major headache. Nevertheless, that occurrence has brought a new meaning to me as a blogger aiming for professional success in this endeavour.

Honestly, I expected a varied group of bloggers and , yep, I found it to be a bit overwhelming. Despite the discomfort after having gone through a bit of an accident from a leisure activity, I managed to indulge myself with numerous exchanges with the old and new members. Vernon Go did his part with flying colors I could not expect much more from a leader of an online media organization as young as Cebu Bloggers Society.

Mark Monta was still a gracious acquaintance as ever. And now a friend, this guy really exudes charisma once he does the talking. I also met some bloggers with strong personalities such as Jerry Gervacio, Agnes Jimenez and Mikyu Maglasang. Mary Angeli Bas, a new member despite her long-time connection with CBS, is a confident lass with a personality which, at first impression, is a bit intimidating but sweet at the same time.

Perhaps, the least expected acquaintance on that meeting was Jaysee Pingkian. A shy 20-year-old graduating student blogger, Jaysee has talents in contrast to a seemingly calm exterior.  Mark’s way of impressing the lad had him in a situation, which could take a gear into reverse mode. I was even clueless of Jaysee’s credentials that after Mark pointed out loud the details of the online resume of a soft-spoken timid blogger, a strong admiration was the primary emotion I could only define towards a newly-encountered lad.

Fleire Castro, a new member, brought with her a son that helped the meeting’s atmosphere to a lighter mode. At least, a very young one could do the ice-breaker in an elephant-in-the-room situation, no pun intended.

I had the chance to meet and exchanged Hi’s with Sinjin and shook hands with Kai Veloso. I was also grateful to Jorich, Clarence, Tiborsho and Christian, Aimee and Wilhemina for some brief pleasantries (I suppose).

Overall, my experience with CBS members was a very pleasant one amidst uneasiness on the first few hours. Thanks Mark Monta for breaking the walls and Vernon for being accommodating.

I had to pass CBS milkshake but I regretted it. I might have taken much pleasure taking a good sip of that smoothie with ice cream on the top.

P.S.

If you have the image of CBS Milkshake, please be gracious and send me a pic so I can credit McBay Cafe for it.

I have passed another milestone on this blogging journey by being part of the group. Even before that, you two have done so much in keeping my motivation to blog on its full gear.

I can’t wait for the time in which the three of us or perhaps another more will be able to create a strong blogging community in Cebu. I would like to collaborate with you guys and I am incessantly looking forward to it.
