November 18, 2010, I got an horrible start after some problems ( which I don’t like to divulge here). It was on that day that I remembered registering my name in CBSi forum to attend an event at SM. So off I went on commute to catch up on my blogger friends and looked on what was in store at Northwing of SM City Cebu.
See, SM has made efforts to pioneer something in the entertainment industry in the Philippines. And I’m glad they did. Using the digital means to get tickets is a less painstaking endeavour as it prevents some people to line up on queues on popular movies to get cinema tickets.
Innovation? I think so here in the Philippines.
Not only that, the launching was filled with music. I arrived SM and the whole crowd was serenaded by an acoustic songstress and then Jiggy Junior of Y101 did great hosting the event. And while the cocktails was served, a band lead by Miguel Escueta helped us digest some specialties that were bland yet palatable to ingest.
The event organizers did not leave us bloggers hanging for what really was the launching about. A demonstration after was visually done live. It featured a PC user and new site registrant taking progress on her registration with the help of a pretty assistant. The process also involved buying a cinema ticket online with GCash and other means.
I couldn’t help but wonder on the registrant picked by SM to help in the demonstration. The old lady reminded me of Lola Techie of BayanTel. Well, it is another tactic of SM to catch demographic market. If the old lady could do it, so could the youngsters, right?
I applaud SM for pioneering something in the digital entertainment industry in the Philippines. But I think a review after would be more appropriate to really see if they have done well on this part.
By turning online, SM has helped many in the internet business especially bloggers in the move to integrate the power of the WEB to transact business in the Philippines.
Oh well, I need to visit SM cinema website to register. I was in daze at that time that registering online was off from my list of tasks that day.
